Domestication at its finest

I have decided that with the lack of income, and all the time in the world now (since I quit my job), I am going to wash my clothes by hand, yep, like scrub-them-no-longer-taking-them-to-the-laundry-mat, kind of washing. Today I went to the store and bought my own pila ... aka a large purple bucket. I have no idea what I am doing, but I have water, soap, clothes...how hard can this really be?

STEP 1: Fill the bucket with hot water.

STEP 2: Ask Adella (the lady at the guest house) if the water is suppose to be hot.

STEP 3: Shit, the water is suppose to be cold.
STEP 4: Oh well, I guess I will use hot water!

STEP 5: Mix detergent real well. For a measuring cup, use hand.

STEP 6: Scrub...scrub...scrub.

STEP 7: Wonder why I am soaked?

STEP 8: Rinse ...I think?

STEP 9: Hang out to dry on the terrace.
STEP 10: Remove clothes from terrace because of the rain...damn.

STEP 11: Remind self that it is fun.

STEP 12: You have no choice unless someone back home wants to send you money!

I have no idea what to do about towels? I think I am taking that shit to the laundry mat!

The next thing you know I will be cooking more than ramen noddles, mac and cheese and scrabbled eggs, and getting married and having kids ... hahaha. Yeeeeeaaaaaa, not quite there yet - sorry mom!

Jobs..they come and they go

I moved into a new guest house - thanks to La Union. It is so much better than where I was living, I also now live with two of my friends. The walk to EVERYTHING is farther, but totally worth it.
Also....I QUIT MY JOB!!!!
I still get to live in this place, just paying for it myself now.

I QUIT MY JOB!!!!!!!

So incredibly happy!

Life

Life has been crazy busy for me lately, hence the reason for no updates, but I will update soon about everything I promise...

Do you remember why I decided to move to Guatemala in the first place? I DO!!

1) Get out of the US!! - Check
2) Learn Spanish - Check (not perfect - not even close, but I am learning)
3) Not work my life away - Check
4) Find a job - Check
5) Find a job where I can lead outdoor trips - CHECK, CHECK, CHECK

My dream is slowly coming true!

These past two weeks have been amazing. The other week I went to one of my friend's house because he was having a sushi party. :)
I met some really important people that he works with (an outdoor company) there, and I got some inside scoop that they would be looking for guides in the near future. I went in the following day and talked with the head man - and I was able to work out some time that we could meet and talk further. He seemed really positive about me working there.

Then just the other night, I get a phone call and an email, asking if I want to go on a last minute trip and learn about running that particular trip. OF COURSE I DO!
I went, it was awesome, and now I have another trip planned to shadow this week.

My name is on the trip board...twice! - This is huge.

Things are really working out now.

Other good news: The raining season is about over, maybe two more weeks of rain, if even that. The past 5 days have been absolutely gorgeous. It is still winter and will only decrease in temperature - bad for me - I didn't pack a jacket. I am not sure what I was thinking when I packed? I don't return to my parent's house until late December, I am going to freeze.

I moved into a new place with one of my friends! This is great news because I was living with 3 boys that are horrible. I am not usually this mean, but you will understand when I tell you more about them later.
